Frequently asked questions.

Here are some of the common questions that I get asked. This page will be updated regularly to include answers to new questions and inquiries.

  1. What training did you complete to become an ENT and facial plastic surgeon?

My training pathway includes 5 years of medical school, 2 years of foundation programme, 2 years of core surgical training, 6 years of higher surgical training in ENT, 4 years of practice as an ENT specialist and subsequently 1 year of internationally accredited subspecialty training for hyper-focused expertise in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, validated by an international board examination upon completion of training.

  2. How does your ENT background enhance your expertise in facial plastic surgery?

As an ENT surgeon, I have dedicated substantial time honing my skills in performing delicate surgeries in the head and neck region, which equipped me with the precision and finesse required for facial plastic surgeries. My ENT background also afforded me a profound understanding of both external and internal facial anatomy, including the septum, turbinates, sinuses and facial nerve. This comprehensive knowledge enables me to not only achieve the desired aesthetic outcomes but also preserve the optimal function of these structures.

  3. Am I a suitable candidate for facial plastic surgery?

Absolutely! Facial plastic surgery can be transformative for individuals seeking long-term results while also having realistic expectations. If you are someone who values a collaborative approach to decision-making, prioritise the qualification and expertise of your surgeon and recognise the value they bring to ensure you’re in safe hands, facial plastic surgery might be the perfect fit for you!

  4. What does your facial plastic consultation involve?

Our facial plastic consultation is a comprehensive process where your concerns, needs and aesthetic goals are addressed. I may use morphing techniques on your pictures to visualise potential outcomes and arrange pre-operative scans for a better understanding of your unique anatomy. Emphasising transparency, I advocate for a 'cool off' period, allowing ample time for thoughtful consideration to ensure a thorough understanding of the procedure and associated risks. This approach ensures your personalised treatment plan aligns seamlessly with your vision for enhanced facial aesthetics.

  5. Is rhinoplasty only for cosmetic reasons, or can it address functional issues too?

While many perceive rhinoplasty as purely cosmetic, it certainly goes beyond aesthetic enhancement. Rhinoplasty can effectively address functional issues such as deviated nasal septum as well as internal and external nasal valve collapse, which can impede proper breathing especially during exercises, affecting one’s lifestyle. As an ENT surgeon, I also aim to improve overall nasal function by addressing enlarged turbinates and sinus diseases concurrently whenever necessary, ensuring an overall improvement in your quality of life.

  6. Are non-surgical procedures as effective as surgical options?

The effectiveness depends on your goals. Non-surgical options like Botox and fillers offer quick, temporary enhancements with minimal downtime. On the other hand, surgery provides longer-lasting and more dramatic transformations. Qualified facial plastic surgeons can make precise, targeted adjustments for structural and functional improvements. Your choice depends on your goals, downtime tolerance and desired transformation level. I'm here to guide you, tailoring a plan that aligns with your goals for results you'll love.

  7. How much does a facial plastic surgery cost?

The cost varies depending on the specific procedure and individual needs, such as whether additional components like rib graft are required or if an overnight stay is necessary. During your personalised consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and I’ll provide a detailed estimate. Remember you are entrusting your care to years of dedicated training and expertise required to become an expert in the field. My aim is to ensure transparency and help you achieve your desired results within your budget. Let’s chat and we’ll tailor a plan that suits you best!
